Gerald had great times! With eighteen dives, the Polynesia should remain the best destination for diving of the trip. Dive in Boulari's pass in New Caledonia remains the most beautiful dive. But Fakarava, in the archipelago of the Tuamotu, gets the place of the richest and the most impressive site. Thank you for Ato for the pictures beneath. The big moments, in qualitative order:
- Fakarava: seven dives in three different sites: the pass Garuae, the pass Tumakohua (in the South) and the island of Toau. In the pass Garuae, all the classicals of the dive in Polynesia. In the south-pass, magnificent drift dive and over benches of several dozens of grey sharks. While going to the island of Toau, a humped-back whale mother and its baby whale. In snorkelling, we’ve seen the rest of the mother about ten metres under us ( the photo). During the dives, immense benches of sharks, tapete (big white-tipped sharks of the reef), grey sharks. Young and grown-up napoleons. Thank you to Jean-Christophe and Erwan of the Aqualung centre. Dives with Samuel, Christian, Caroline, Elsa and Rémy, Sophie, Martine and Dominique and Ato, the photographer.
- Huahine: three dives. Best of in Fitii's pass with bench of grey sharks, leopards rays, tortoise and big napoleons. On another site, the sharks with black point and with white point were so numerous and so close, as one of them went as far as turning knocking the belly of Gerald with its nose. One not knows what it aimed at exactly! Thank you to Annie of the Mahana Dive centre, especially to have known how to give envy to Isabelle to make a second try (photo below), after the catastrophic one in Thailand. Dive with Bruno the Inhabitant of Marseilles philosophizes, and his friends.
- Moorea: three dives. Big quantity of sharks of lagoon, black-tipped, white-tipped and grey. Beautiful coral reefs. Thank you to Bubu of the Fun Dive centre. Dives made with Damien and Jean.
- Rangiroa: two dives. First driftt dive and first dive with dolphins. Thank you to Brigitte, notably for our dive in duet with dolphins and my record of depth at 47 metres!
- Tikehau: two dives. The occasion to see my first bench of big white-tipped sharks (called locally Tapete), much bigger than those of the lagoon and can reach more than three metres in length. The service of Blue Nui centre is a little bit fast! Dives with Giempiero.
- Raiatea: one dive. Two napoleons and first bench of about ten grey shark! Dive with Jean-François and Anne-Gaelle.
